“Gridstamatic” refers to my grid assembly/collage work using the Hipstamatic app (or if you’d prefer, Cubism-by-way-of-iPhone).
The images been featured in and/or won awards from Photojojo, Wired, F-Stop Magazine, the Hipstamatic “Adventures in HipstaLand” series, Creativity Machines and elsewhere. They have also been showcased at multiple exhibits in North America and Europe, and have been used in the classroom as a tool for teaching creative photographic techniques to children.
Technical aside: there’s no post processing aside from choosing images and then laying them out into the desired sequence, and no pixel adjustment or color work other than what the app delivers in-phone.
Great work, very inspiring. What’s your favourite lense/film combo?
Hi Kieron,
Thanks a lot! I guess I tend to gravitate towards John S as my primary lens, and after that I probably use Jimmy, Lucifer VI & the SXSW Tejas lens the most.
Film wise I’m more all over the place, I’m a big fan of Blanko Noir, Claunch 72, Blanko & Alfred (oh, and Supergrain too).
I’d say that my most employed combo is probably John S with Blanko Noir or Claunch 72 (sometimes w/ a red filter on the latter).
Hope that all made sense, and thanks again!
Jason
I am completely in awe and totally inspired by your work.
Yes, anyone can download the app on their iPhone and snap pictures of whatever moves them, but to have the vision to create something beyond is really incredible.
Just goes to show ~ no matter how expensive (or inexpensive) the equipment is, it is worthless without eyes to see.
Again I really find thus experiment of yours amazing and inspiring! I’m thinking of giving this a try – I hope you don’t mind? :)
What’s the SXSW Tejas lense? I don’t have it, thought I’d downloaded all the pacs. I’m a fan of of the cafe caneol film and the chunky lens. I like the Jimmy and lucifer lenses too and feel that some of the others (Bettie & Roboto glitter for example) are a bit superfluous.
