I have excellent news for the world: Cheeta (world famous movie star of many a Tarzan film from the 1930’s & 1940’s, not to mention the oldest living chimp on the planet), is, as of this writing in 2006, currently living out his retirement in Palm Springs while doing commissioned artwork for those rarified patrons so inclined to, you know, purchase paintings done by a chimpanzee.
2015 EDIT: …or not — it’s complicated!
In 2005 I got my two original “Cheetas” & honestly they were EVEN COOLER than I’d hoped; really well balanced with a great sense of motion — overall just loaded w/ energy. This lovely Simian Dyptich currently resides in the bedroom of my home, and it is a complete pleasure to see them first thing in the morning.
(Note: the black blob in the lower right hand corner is Cheeta’s thumbprint/ signature)
Interested in getting your own original “Ape-Stract” painting? You’re in luck! Pick from one to three colors (choose from red, white, blue, orange, green, yellow, purple, turquoise, magenta, brown, or black) and donate the (tax-deductible!) scratch right here: http://cheetathechimp.org/donate.htm
Beautiful colors, wonderful paintings, Jason!
