Razorcake – Graphic Design

RAZORCAKE is the first and only official non-profit DIY punk rock fanzine in America primarily dedicated to supporting independent music culture.

Has there ever been a finer assem­blage of punk-rock-loving, fanzine-creating, counterculture-sustaining, crash-pad-encouraging and fuck-you-Daleing on the planet? The answer is no. No there has not.

So here’s some design work non­sense I’m pleased to have made for my pals at the Razor­cake Fanzine/ Records/ Skateboard/ Dis­tri­b­u­tion con­sor­tium over the years. They do their part.

I am always 100% stoked to get a chance to cook up a cover for Razorcake. They’ve showcased an amazing array of DIY/ Underground/ Punk Rock/ WhateverYouWannaCallThem artists over the years (on both the inside and the outside of the mag), and I couldn’t be happier to be one of them.

Learn to Play Guitar in One Day at No Cost
This piece is really kind of an updating of the insert included with the debut single from my old band The Weird Lovemakers. I didn’t learn how to play the guitar until I was 23 years old, and by that point I figured the ship had probably already sailed on the “become a musician” front. Imagine my surprise then, when I discovered how easy it was to play Punk Rock songs after learning two simple fingering shapes and moving them around — I mean, that basically describes my entire career as a musician. So this is me just trying to spread the good news, and Razorcake was happy to help the cause. (Now go start a band.)
