Because the song has specific ties to his time spent in the Sonoran Desert, Justin Champlin (née Nobunny) travelled to Tucson, AZ for the shoot, which was undertaken over two days at multiple remote locations. For the time lapse section, the Dynamic Perception Stage Zero Dolly was utilized.
Character Creation and Animation
Justin also supplied me with original drawings (see below) for various characters that he wanted to have appear in the video. The original art was drawn by Justin on notebook paper and photographed with a cell phone. I then extracted, colorized and rigged the characters for animation in After Effects using Duik Tools.
