Because the song has specific ties to his time spent in the Sonoran Desert, Justin Champlin (née Nobunny) travelled to Tucson, AZ for the shoot, which was undertaken over two days at multiple remote locations. For the time lapse section, the Dynamic Perception Stage Zero Dolly was utilized.
Justin also supplied me with original drawings for various characters that he wanted to have appear in the video. The original art was drawn on notebook paper and photographed with a cell phone. I then extracted, colorized and rigged the characters for animation in After Effects.
This project was really a lot of fun, and I had a fantastic time working with Justin (also: if you ever get the chance to see Nobunny live I highly recommend it).
